What is Children and Young People’s Counselling?

There are immediate appointments available. Please contact us to learn more or book.

Our counselling service for children, teenagers and young people is for any young person aged 11 plus (up to 24 in full time education) who is experiencing problems. These problems may be issues with your parents, maybe your relationship with them is difficult and making you feel angry or sad. It may be problems at school including bullying, feeling excluded or overwhelmed. It may be how you feel about yourself, including low self-esteem, lacking confidence, or wanting to manage your emotions such as anger or sadness. Or it may be depression or mental health concerns. Whatever problems you are facing counselling lets you talk about how you are feeling in a safe space away from home and school. Counselling can help you feel better about yourself and help you find ways to enjoy life again. Talking to one of our qualified and experienced counsellors can help.

How can counselling help me?

Our counsellors are supportive and non-judgemental. You can talk about whatever you want. You can explore your thoughts and feelings with the support of your counsellor and build a set of strategies to help you cope with your problems.

“I went to Relate weekly until I felt like my counsellor had helped me make sense of my sad feelings and helped me to realise I needed to stop being so hard on myself and blaming myself for how others were making me feel. The help I was given I have used every day since and I will honestly use for life and I will never forget the help this gave me in a really tough time” Anonymous young person

What you say is confidential unless the counsellor is worried about your safety. You will have a 50 minute appointment with a counsellor at either our Reigate or Epsom centre and this can be weekly on the same day and time. You can refer yourself or be referred by a teacher, social worker or your parent.
