Counselling Services

Relate Mid and East Surrey is a Registered Charity and we do not aim to make a profit from our services. We charge a fee for our services to cover the costs of the sessions with the aim to support as many people as possible.

We charge a flat fee for the Initial Appointment. The cost of ongoing counselling sessions will be dependent on your income. If you cannot afford the fee linked to your income we may be able to offer you further financial assistance.

Advance Payment: You will be asked to pay the full fee in advance of your appointment.

First Appointment: To be paid for in full over the phone at the time of booking.

Ongoing appointments: These must be paid in full online before the appointment. You will be sent a payment request by email which contains a link for you to make payment. The payment request email will automatically be sent 6 days prior to your appointment, with a reminder 3 days prior to your appointment and a final request 1 day prior to your appointment. Billing information will be sent to the primary member on the account, this is usually the person who made the initial enquiry. If you wish to change the person who receives the billing information, please notify us. We accept all types of payment, except American Express.

Cancellation policy: You can cancel your appointment up to 48 hours before and any advance payment will be refunded in full. If you cancel your appointment with less than 48 hours’ notice the full fee will be non-refundable. We ask you to please commit to your course of counselling and attend your appointments at the agreed time each week. This will enable you to get the most out of the counselling and help us to run an efficient service.

Mediation

MIAM – The first meeting, a Mediation Information & Assessment meeting (MIAM) can be attended by both parties together or separately. In this meeting you will understand what mediation is, what you need resolved and future plans. Following this meeting you can decide if mediation is right for you. It is mandatory to attend a MIAM before you can take a case to court.

This is based on income and adjusted according to a sliding scale on earnings.

Note: On average for children only cases people attend 1 meeting with may be a follow up meeting. For AIM or Property and Finance cases on average clients finish in 3 joint meetings.

YOU MUST BRING A CURRENT PAY SLIP TO THE MEETING OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE CHARGED AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL

Advance Payment

All fees are payable no later than 5 days in advance.

Cancellation policy

If an appointment is cancelled less than 5 working days in advance total fees are non-refundable unless another appointment is made within 14 days at the time of cancellation.
