Client Information

A client’s initial appointment will be a 50 minute assessment with a counsellor to determine the relationship issues and whether Relate is the right agency to give support.  The assessment appointment has a therapeutic value in its own right.

If on-going counselling is agreed, Relate will request a client’s availability to match an appropriate counsellor with the client’s needs.  The more availability given by a client, the quicker a counsellor can be allocated and clients will be offered a regular appointment slot at the same time and day each week with that counsellor.

As we are a registered non-profit making charity, all counselling sessions are subsidised.  Please our the fee schedule which is in the costs section on our website.

To confirm appointments, we ask that the appropriate booking fee is received in advance.  Refunds will only be given if 48 hours’ notice of cancellation is received. Please note for mediation we require 5 working days for cancellation.

Children are not permitted on the premises unless in counselling themselves.

Pets are not permitted on the premises.  Assistance dogs are permitted.

Relate is a national trainer of relationship counsellors and some have additional training in specific areas.  All our practitioners in training have been assessed as competent to work with their clients on a wide range of issues.  As with all our counsellors, they are in ongoing professional clinical supervision for the work they undertake.
